Welcome to Starling Class!
We are a mixed Year 3 and Year 4 class, our teacher is Miss Kingston and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Lanyon.
Community is at the heart of our classroom practice; our children have high aspirations and understand the value of making positive contributions to the world around them. Our goal is to ensure that all of our children are happy and engaged.
We are looking forward to the year ahead and our amazing topics we are going to learn about. Please take time to read our Topic Webs and take a look at our school Facebook and Twitter feeds for the wonderful learning that takes place in our school.
Classroom
Our classroom is an organised and engaging learning environment. We believe that this is integral to pupils enjoyment of learning. All pupils are included and valued within our school and this strengthens friendships inside and outside of the classroom.
PE
In Starling Class, PE is on a tUESDAY afternoon. We ask that PE kits are brought into school at the start of term and remain in school so that all pupils have the kit they need to partake in PE lessons.
Homework
Weekly homework assignments are to be completed at home. These are posted on Google Classroom and are given to the children in their homework book on a Wednesday. Completed homework needs to be handed in by the following Wednesday.
Reading
Reading is an important aspect of our curriculum and we encourage daily reading either independently or with an adult. Alongside this, we have a class novel that we enjoy at the end of each day during carpet time. Additional reading at home is encouraged and we ask pupils to keep a note of their reading in their Reading Records. In school, we use VIPERS to support pupil’s comprehension. A copy of this framework is attached below if you would like to ask these questions at home.
